Expected bandwidth in IP Core Factory

Postby mohdamir »

Hi Eli and all,

How do we calculate the expected bandwidth in IP Core Factory?

I have no idea how to figure this out.

For example, if I have xillybus_read_32 and xillybus_write_32, using this configuration:

Lane width: X2
Link speed: 2.5 GT/s
Interface width: 64-bit
Frequency: 62.5 MHz

I should get (theoretically) 125 MB/s (62.5 MHz x 2 lane), and roughly 100 MB/s for the expected bandwith.

Is that true?

And second question is, how do we calculate expected bandwidth for xillybus_mem_8, for example? How do we get this number, 102.400 kB/s for the expected bandwidth?

Thanks alot everyone.

Regards.

Hello,

Xillybus' bandwidth is discussed generally on this page:

http://xillybus.com/doc/xillybus-bandwidth

In the IP core factory, you don't calculate the bandwidth, but rather choose what you need. This help the software that prepares the custom IP core to achieve a proper balance between performance and resource allocation.
