Mouse and Keyboard stops working when USB plugged in

Hello,

I followed the tutorials and booted xilinux successfully but when i plug in the USB drive, both mouse and keyboard stop working until i reboot the the system. I tried to to plug in all devices (Mouse, Keyboard and USB drive) before boot up. Keyboard and Mouse works but still USB doesn't show up. I tried "lsusb" in terminal and found that USB drive is present there but not mounted.

My question is:
1). Do i need to reboot whenever i plug in new device using USB port?
2). USB drive is not showing up mounted. Do i need to manually mount USB?

Hello,

Xillinux works like any Ubuntu / Linux system running on a desktop, and that includes the USB connections. Hotplugging works. Why it doesn't in your case isn't clear. Maybe /var/log/syslog may shed some light.

This way or another, this problem should be treated as if it happened on a desktop. Maybe shaky connectors cause too much mess when plugging in something new. Maybe there's an inrush current problem (too much current demanded by device immediately on connection).

So I suggest looking at the logs, trying with a hub (or a different hub, if you're already using one) etc.

Regards,
Eli

hi,

I replaced the USB hub and everything worked. Thanks a lot.
